Hi everyone, I'm sharing one of my July pages with you today, created with the #rightnow main and sprinkles kits. I've gone for a grungy feel on the background, which I've built up with layers of distress stains, ink, watercolour paint, graphite scribbles and stamping.  I've chosen papers from the main kit which replicated the muted colours in the photo

I've trimmed the 'this is it' cork arrow to a different style arrow and inked the edges. The die-cut pack in the Sprinkles kit is perfect for a travel themed layout

Thanks for looking, I hope you've been having fun with your July kits, standby for lots of inspiration from August kit creations starting tomorrow!

Sunday Sketch with Trina

Hi everyone!  Trina here with this week's Sunday Sketch.  I took this simple 12" x 12" sketch and switched it up to a 8.5" x 11" and was able to complete this layout in under 30 minutes.  I cheated a little today and made this sketch with various August 2017 "Photobooth" scrapbooking and pocket page kits to give you early sneaks for pre-sale beginning tomorrow night at 10 p.m. PST for our subscribers.

Here's our fun sketch for today:

Here is my take on this week's sketch.

The title was made with the "so" from our Photobooth scrapbooking kit and the "you" from our August Embellishment kit. I'm just loving how the puffy gold "you" hovers over the page:

Next,  a close-up of the center panel. I love the colors in the August kits so much that I decided to print a pic of our little cat in black-and-white. I created my layers using an old book page, folded up white tissue paper and yummy cardstock from the Photobooth Scrapbooking and Pocket Life kits. I popped the photo up with pop dots to add depth. Don't be afraid to fold up a corner to show the backside of your pattern paper!

Now it's your turn! To play along with this week's Sunday Sketch Challenge, create a layout based off of today's sketch, upload it to the gallery with today's date (7/30) in the title, and you are in for a chance to win a $5 gift certificate to the CTK Store!

Thanks for playing along with this week's sketch.

xo,
Trina

3 to Inspire with Aimee Dow

Me oh my, supplies are running low for this late in the month, aren't they? Just a few more days until the new kit release and it is SO PRETTY. Until then though, let me show you how to stretch what you have leftovers.

Your 3 prompts for this week are:

1. Breath new life in to your old, tried and true stamps by stamping in coloured ink. I'm a shocker for this. I keep a black ink pad on my desk and I rarely hunt for another... even though I may now be in triple digit inks.

2. Use something unexpected - maybe from another hobby? I used fabric. It was in this months kit but can you imagine how cool variegated embroidery thread or mosaic tiles would look? Packing ribbon is always fun too.

3. Give love to a neglected supply. *Cough* Washi tape *Cough*. Remember when Veneer was all the rage? I'm sure you have quite a stash somewhere. Or maybe it's pretty paper clips. Let them shine in the way they were intended to - on a layout.

Now, it's your turn! Use the three prompts to create your own projects and share them with us in the CTK Gallery and/or on our Facebook Fan Page by Saturday, August 5th, for a chance to win. You can also upload to Instagram and tag us @citrustwistkits. We so love seeing all your creations.

Aimee Xx.

Versatility of Pocket Life Kit

This month have been a busy month for me and I was kind of getting worried that my pocket life kit took its sweet time coming to my doorstep. So I planned ahead on what to do when the kit came, well..not exactly extensive planning though... more of what pictures to use and if I will use it as a pocket life entry in my album this year or make a mini album out of it.
In all honesty, I have started lots and lots of mini album and I think I only managed to really finished one, which was my trip to Korea. So I was hesitant to do a separate mini album, but there are lots of photos that I want to include. While pondering on what to use, I chance upon someone destashing a Passport size Traveler's Notebook in one of the facebook sites that I am a member in. Fast forward to the day my kit came.
The kit itself is not a travel themeish however, it does have an outdoorsy feel with all the butterflies and flowers in the exclusive ephemera pack. So I challenge myself to use up most of the products in my kit. I quickly cut to size the Dream paper pad before I change my mind, printed my photos to size and planned out where to use the journal cards.
I try to simplify my process by having a pattern in what I create so that not every page is unique or special, Most of my "spreads" are consist of one page photo and the opposite page is a journaling card with journal or just plain filler card. After that I would try out the embellishment which ones I feel that would fit and suit the "spread".
For sceneries, I have the habit of taking panoramic shots with my phone, so I try to incorporate those by doing in in a single spread, like this photo above.
The first time I saw this grey die cut piece that is included in the kit, I sure did look for ways how to use it. In the end, I use it simply by putting in in the middle of the page with few muted down embellishments so as not to attract too much confusion. Moreover, as much as I love using the enamel dots in my layouts, I was hesitant to go crazy with those in this album because I was already having trouble with it being too bulky.

Just for fun, I made this little flip up using the tab and labels from the cut apart sheet that is included in this month's kit. It's a simple and yet a nice surprise.

My favourite spread in this traveler's notebook is this one. When closed the panel looks like just one ordinary spread. I did cheat a little by using a 12x12 sheet of patterned paper that I have laying around. It doesn't hurt that it has gold foiling in it. Anything with gold foil, I am so all over it.
When that panel is open, it would show page with photos layered with bush of the ephemeras. My favourite this month is the die cut ephemeras so I just had to use them up in this album. I love how the die cut word looks so natural among the other ephemeras.
I used the labels in the cut apart sheet and use the stamp set to find words that are closely related to the pictures.
I just couldn't resist using this cure puffy sunglass sticker that is from the Embellishment kit.
In the end its all fat and chunky, however since its very small and handy, I wouldn't have a problem where to store it. Which is one of my problem, living in a small city apartment.

Project Life with Adele (aka Inkie Quill)

Hello lovelies!

I had fun cracking open my July Pocket Life Kit this month while I scrapped the day lil Archie was born. It was a busy, busy day filled with lots of snapchat screenshots and photos which matched perfectly with the exclusive ephemera included in this month's kit.

I also used the puffy stickers and enamel dots from the darling Embellishment Kit for July too. I was so excited to find a redheaded puffy sticker girl!!

The acrylic piece this month was so so cute and worked perfectly with the excitement that was still to come on the following layouts...

I had a great time documenting this week and desperately need to print more photos to use the rest of this gorgeous kit!!

I hope you enjoy my process video!

Pocket Life with Jodie King

Hi everyone, it’s Jodie with you today and I’m CTK’s guest designer for July!  I’m sharing two Pocket Life spreads that I’ve created with the July “Right Now” Pocket Life kit and the This Is Life "Narrative" stamp set today.

My first layout documents a special weekend spent with my sisters interstate. I had more photos than usual so I’ve added a 4x6 insert to the page, and just because I love the Heidi Swapp alphas in this months PL kit so much, I’ve also added an extra acetate insert for a layering effect this week.

To make this super simple journalling card I trimmed some white cardstock that I had printed my journalling to size on, then corner rounded the top two corners.  I then centred this on the lower edge of patterned paper trimmed to 3x4 inches.  It would have been fine left like that but this gorgeous wood veneer just added a finishing touch, and I stapled it in place with my tiny attacher.

I just love the exclusive chipboard stickers in the PL kit this moth!  They have a beautiful gloss finish to them, and are so easy to pop out to add little details here and there on your projects, like this super cute star.

Here’s a close up of my acetate insert.  This is actually really easy to do, just by trimming some acetate to the size you need, punching a few holes on one side so that it can slip into your album, and then adhering your alphas!  I’ve also added a few patterned paper reinforcement rings punched from coordinating patterned paper.

And here’s a closeup of how the layers all look together.

My absolute favourite pieces of ephemera this month are the butterflies for sure!  For this filler card I’ve layered one of them with coordinating 6x6 papers from the kit, and one of the cute labels from the exclusive cut apart sheet.

And here’s the second page!

I was loving the circle theme going on with this page, so I went ahead and punched a few circles out of scraps to add to this journalling card as well as my gorgeous gold foiled chipboard sticker… and it’s true you know, us scrapbookers take photo’s like it’s our job right!?

And now for my second layout!

This week I’ve pulled all the softer colours from the kit and gone with a pastel colour palette.

And here’s the left page.

A super easy technique in your pocket pages is to add a sentiment right over the middle of a feature photo, rather than adding it to the side.  I’ve done that here with one of the sentiments from the cut apart sheet.

This just may be one of my favourite hand made filler cards this year right here!  I’ve used another butterfly from the ephemera pack as a jumping off point and add layers behind and in front of it.  I’ve also used some packaging from the kit to create a shaker pocket to back my black frame with.  You can just see the white glitter sparkling from behind the butterfly.

Have you ever made your own ephemera pins?  All you need is a regular paperclip and a small ephemera piece.  Tuck your paperclip where you’d like it to sit, and adhere the ephemera piece to the top of it, super simple and super sweet.

Whoa! If you’ve made it to the end of this post thanks for hanging in there - it was a super long one today!  Thanks for following along with my Guest Designer projects this month, and remember, if you’re thinking of signing up for a kit subscription with Citrus Twist Kits, now is the perfect time, with new reduced international postage on Pocket Life and Gracebox Kits for Canadian and International subscribers, and to get 25% off the first kit in a new Scrapbooking, Pocket Life or GraceBox subscription, just quote JODIEKGUEST in the Comments at checkout!
