A View From Our Gallery

We would love to celebrate our very first "A View From Our Gallery" and challenge with you. This week's "Here You Go Again!" layout comes from Barb Prendergast (United States). Barb loves to take on our weekly Sunday Sketch challenges and we love seeing what she does with them.

Here is a challenge to go with this week's layout inspired by Barb's sunburst.

CHALLENGE: Create a layout with a starburst or use a starburst on your Pocket Life pages this week. Be sure to share the results in the Citrus Twist Gallery!

Here is a little more about Barb:

My name is Barb Prendergast, and I live in central Illinois. I'm a former newspaper reporter and public relations specialist, so scrapbooking is a perfect way to combine my love of photos and storytelling. My husband, Mike and I have four adult children (three married and one engaged) and seven grandchildren. I treasure my scrapbooks because they're full of layouts that preserve special moments with my family, as well as travels and snapshots of everyday life. I also enjoy creating my own greeting cards.
I love sketches because they provide a shortcut to my creative process. I can use the sketch as a sort of "road map" and get right down to the part of scrapping that I love best: working with my photos, beautiful papers and embellishments to preserve special moments. And I love kits because I don't have to waste time looking for the perfect embellishments or finding papers that "go together"; they're all right in my kit and I can get down to business.

This layout is one of my current favorites because Kasia's sketch inspired me to try something new. Instead of cutting out a sunburst design and adhering it to my background, I cut the sunburst design into my background paper and then put the patterned paper behind it. Kasia's sketches always take me a little bit out of my "comfort zone", which I love.  I used the June main kit, adding some pearl dots, thread and title alphas from my stash. I stamped a piece of kraft cardstock to make the tag.

Thank you for visiting our blog today. We look forward to seeing your starburst-inspired layouts in our Gallery!
